Materazzi - hero or zero?

Guys, what do you make of Materazzi? (I'm talking about the World Cup Final, in case you've been asleep for the past month).

Hero or zero? He gives away a penalty (scored by his very good friend Zidane), scores a cracking equaliser. Says something unpleasant to Zidane, who gets himself sent off. Then he scores in the penalty shoot-out.

So what do Italian fans make of him? I think his insults to Zidane were probably calculated to get a reaction. Doesn't do much for the "beautiful game" if you ask me.

Materazzi - hero or zero?

Well, FIFA didn't seem too impressed. They gave him a two-match ban, and Zidane a three-match ban (although he's retired now anyway). Seems fair enough to me - Materazzi wasn't without sin, and Zidane has paid a high price already.

Yeah, poor Materazzi, he'll miss a match against France (I think), and have to sit home polishing his World Cup medal.
